These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of versionPing.

1. Scope of the service

versionPing provides publicly accessible information about software products, version history, release trains, and selected vulnerability information. versionPing may also offer email notifications for new releases and, where selected by the user, alerts for newly identified high and critical vulnerabilities.

The service is currently provided as a free basic service. The operator may introduce additional free or paid features in the future.

2. No account required

The public website can be used without creating a user account. Email notifications require submission of an email address and successful confirmation through a double opt-in process.

3. Subscription limits

The operator may impose technical or functional limits on the free service, including limits on the number of products that may be subscribed to per email address.

Any such limits are determined by the operator and may be adjusted from time to time for operational, security, or product reasons.

4. Informational purpose only

The information provided by versionPing is for general informational purposes only. While reasonable care may be taken in preparing and updating the data, the operator does not guarantee that version information, release history, release trains, or vulnerability information is complete, accurate, or up to date at all times.

Users remain solely responsible for independently verifying relevant software, security, and compliance information before relying on it in production, operational, legal, or security-sensitive contexts.

5. No security warranty

CVE-related information, severity assessments, and release-related data may be incomplete, delayed, filtered, aggregated, or based on third-party sources. versionPing is not a substitute for vendor advisories, internal patch management, vulnerability management, or security monitoring.

6. Availability

The operator does not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the website or email notifications. The service may be temporarily limited, suspended, changed, or discontinued for maintenance, security, technical, legal, or business reasons.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service. In particular, you must not:

  • attempt to interfere with the technical operation or security of the website
  • use automated means to access the service in an abusive or excessive manner
  • attempt to bypass technical restrictions or subscription limits
  • use the service for unlawful purposes
  • submit email addresses that you are not authorized to use

8. Suspension and blocking

The operator may restrict, suspend, or block access to all or part of the service, including subscriptions, where necessary to protect system integrity, prevent abuse, enforce these Terms, or comply with legal obligations.

9. Changes to the service and these Terms

The operator may modify the service and these Terms of Use at any time. The current version published on the website applies.

10. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where exclusion is not permitted by applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, the operator shall not be liable for indirect damages, lost profits, loss of data, business interruption, missed updates, missed vulnerability alerts, or decisions taken in reliance on information provided by versionPing.

In cases of slight negligence, the operator shall only be liable for breach of essential contractual obligations and shall in that case be limited to the typical foreseeable damage. Mandatory statutory liability, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and liability under mandatory product liability law, remains unaffected.

11. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise indicated, the structure, presentation, and content of versionPing are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. This does not prevent lawful use of factual information that is not protected by copyright.

12. Reporting inaccuracies or legal concerns

If you believe that content on versionPing is inaccurate, outdated, infringes your rights, or should otherwise be reviewed, please contact us at hello@versionping.app.

Please provide sufficient detail to identify the affected content and explain your concern. We will review the request and, where appropriate, correct, update, restrict, or remove the content.

13. Privacy

Information on the processing of personal data is provided in the Privacy Notice.

14. Governing law

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding conflict-of-law rules, to the extent legally permissible.

If you are a consumer and mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of habitual residence apply, those mandatory provisions remain unaffected.
